This policy sets out the basis on which any personal information Unisan (‘we’ or ‘us’) collect from you via www.unisanuk.com (‘site’) or that you provide to us, will be processed by us. Please read the following carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal information and how we will treat it.
For the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the ‘Act’) the data controller is Unisan, Unit 17B Millers Avenue, Brynmenyn Industrial Estate, Bridgend, CF32 9TD.
What information do we collect?
We receive information in one of two ways; either we (a) collect information from you when you register on the site, place an order, [enter a contest or sweepstakes], respond to a survey or communication such as e-mail, or participate in another site feature or (b) from a third party such as credit reference agencies (for example to assess your credit rating).
When ordering or registering, we may ask you for your name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number or other information. You may, however, visit our site anonymously.
We also collect information about gift recipients so that we can fulfil the gift purchase. The information we collect about gift recipients is not used for marketing purposes.
Like many websites, we use "cookies" to enhance your experience and gather information about visitors and visits to our websites. Please refer to the "Do we use 'cookies'?" section below for information about cookies and how we use them.
How do we use your information?
We may use the information we collect from you when you register, purchase products, [enter a contest or promotion], respond to a survey or marketing communication, surf the site, or use certain other site features in the following ways:
To monitor customer traffic patterns and site usage to help us personalise your site experience and to allow us to deliver the type of content and product offerings in which you are most interested.
To allow us to better service you in responding to your customer service requests.

Visitors who register or participate in other site features such as marketing programs and 'members-only' content will be given a choice whether they would like to be on our e-mail list and receive e-mail communications from us.
Use of Credit Reference Agency Information
In the interests of responsible lending and for security purposes we carry out searches with credit reference agencies when you register with us and further searches may be carried out before deciding whether to accept orders and/or grant further credit. The agencies record these searches. We also share information about you and the conduct of your account with credit reference agencies, other lenders and relevant third parties.
Information about you will be used to verify your identity and for the credit assessment of you. We may also use your information for payment recovery or fraud and debt tracing. We will pass on details of defaulting accounts to debt collection agencies.
How do we protect visitor information?
We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. Your personal information you provide to us is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.
When you place orders or access your personal information, we offer the use of a secure server. All sensitive/credit information you supply is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our databases to be only accessed as stated above.
All payment transactions are handled by Paypal. We do not store your credit or debit card details. Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised.
Do we use "cookies"?
We may contract with third-party service providers to assist us in better understanding our site visitors. These service providers are not permitted to use the information collected on our behalf except to help us conduct and improve our business.
You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies. You do this through your browser (like Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer) settings. Each browser is a little different, so look at your browser Help menu to learn the correct way to modify your cookies. If you turn cookies off, you won't have access to many features that make your site experience more efficient and some of our services will not function properly. However, you can still place orders over the telephone by contacting customer service.
This communication is strictly confidential and intended only for the addressee named in the email. If you are not the named addressee or have received this communication in error please do not read it; notify us immediately and delete it from your computer. The contents must not be disclosed to any other person and you must not take physical or electronic copies of it. No contract may be concluded on behalf of Unisan by e-mail unless expressly authorised by a Partner of Unisan. We do not accept responsibility for any loss or damage which may occur from using this e-mail or any attachment.

Delivery to Europe & Southern Ireland: POA
Unisan will not accept the return of goods for any reason unless prior agreement has been received from Unisan. Collection will be made only with valid collection note. Unisan reserve the right to refuse cancellation of orders in all situations and in particular in the case where Goods are 'in the manufacturing process’, ready to be dispatched to the customer, or have been dispatched to the customer or have been ordered specifically for a particular client (bespoke items).
Unisan will not accept return of Goods where such Goods have been correctly supplied to the customer. Unisan may voluntarily agree to a return of Goods but this will only be with Unisan’s consent and we will not in any event be obliged to accept the return of Goods. Where such a return of the Goods is voluntarily accepted by Unisan there will be a handling charge of 20% of the purchase price of the products. It will be the customer’s responsibility to return all Goods free from defect to Unisan and cover the cost of all carriage where we have voluntarily agreed to accept the return of the Goods.
Unisan will replace free of charge, Goods damaged in transit, provided that the carrier and Unisan receive written notice of such damage within 24 hours of delivery. Goods should be checked with the Advice Note enclosed with the Goods on receipt, and if received in a damaged or unsatisfactory condition, must be signed for as such. Shortages must also be notified to the carrier and Unisan within 24 hours of delivery, failing which no liability will be accepted. In the above cases, the packing and contents should be retained for inspection. Non-delivery of Goods must be reported in writing to Unisan within three days of receipt of invoice, or Advice Note, whichever is the earlier. Any claim by the customer for any alleged shortages or any defect in the quality or condition of the Goods or their failure to correspond with specifications, shall (whether or not delivery is refused by the customer) be notified to Unisan within 5 days of the date of delivery or (where the defect or failure was not apparent on reasonable inspection) within a reasonable time after discovery of the shortage, defect or failure, and must be accompanied by full particulars of case number, advice number, and conditions.
Failure to comply with these requirements shall preclude the customer from making any claim against Unisan. If, notwithstanding the foregoing the customer accepts, and not notify Unisan in accordance with this Condition, the customer shall not be entitled to reject the Goods and Unisan shall have no liability for such defect or failure, and the Buyer shall be bound to pay the price as if the Goods had been delivered in accordance with the Contract. If Unisan fails to deliver the Goods for any reason other than any cause beyond Unisan’s reasonable control or the customer’s fault, and Unisan is accordingly liable to the customer, Unisan’s liability shall be limited to the excess (if any) of the cost to the customer (in the cheapest available market) of similar goods to replace those not delivered over the price of the Goods. No return of Goods will be accepted by Unisan at its warehouse without a prior authorisation number having been given by us. Goods so returned shall be refused.
