Merlin Entertainments has partnered with Coca-Cola to offer 50% off entry into selected Merlin attractions across the UK in return of used plastic bottles.

Coca-Cola GB launches reverse vending machine trial with Merlin Entertainments (3)

This incentive scheme is the first of its kind in the UK, and stems from Coca-Cola’s goal of recycling a bottle for every one they produce by 2030.  At Unisan, we are passionate about supporting businesses in achieving their environmental sustainability goals, so we are proud to be a part of this exciting step in becoming a #worldwithoutwaste.

The trial is running from between 25 July and 19 October 2018, and invites anyone to recycle their plastic drinks bottles using the CafeCrush™ machines. In return, they will be rewarded with a 50% off ticket to one of 30 Merlin attractions in the UK, including Alton Towers Resort, LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, Chessington World of Adventures, and THORPE PARK Resort.

We want to reward people for doing the right thing by recycling their bottles and hope to encourage some people who wouldn’t otherwise have done so. Through this exciting new trial with Merlin Entertainments we hope to remind people how valuable their empty plastic bottle is.”

Coca-Cola GB launches reverse vending machine trial with Merlin Entertainments (1)

“We’re constantly looking for ways to raise awareness and help contribute to a better environment. As a responsible business and an advocate for marine conservation, we’re pleased to be joining forces with Coca-Cola Great Britain to encourage people to recycle more this summer, by rewarding them with family fun.”

Sandra Hazel, Head of Force for Good, Merlin Entertainments

“Our CafeCrush™ reverse vending machines reward people for recycling. Users simply insert an empty plastic bottle, it’s crushed and then they receive an incentive. The way the machine works means the bottles are not contaminated by other waste and so, are perfect for recycling. Also, because they are crushed, reducing waste volume by up to 90 per cent, more bottles can be stored and therefore less transportation is needed to get them to recycling facilities – a win for consumers and the environment.”

Jon Dormer, Managing Director, Unisan

This partnership shows the importance that is placed on waste plastics in today’s world, as 50% off a Merlin Entertainment ticket can have a value of up to £30.  We believe that this scheme is something that the world will be seeing more of in the future, and we can’t wait to start  supporting even more businesses on their environmental sustainability journey.
